Science-for February and March---Energy and Forces--Light and Sound and Magnets  There will be a study guide coming home and the test will be March 21.

Words for April 20--add -s or -es--pots, floats, jumps.  thanks, weeks, boxes, foxes, dishes, wishes, inches, sticks, bends, skates,  watches, lunches, benches
Sentence: The foxes made wishes for new pots and dishes.

Vocabulary: pictures, charcoal, crayons, paint, paintings, paintbrushes



Words for April 27--
Review Week-- irregular  plurals: men, women, children, feet, teeth, geese, mice, oxen, sheep, deer, fish, people, moose, lice, leaves, dice

Sentence: The men ran after the sheep and the geese.

Vocabulary: hydrants, helmets, flashlights, gear, doorstop, walkie-talkies, uniforms, equipment

Words for May 4: Months and Holidays:  January,, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, summer, winter, fall, spring

Sentence: We love the summer months of June, July and August

Bonus Words: Christmas, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day

Words for May 11:contractions:  I'm, he's, wasn't, didn't, we're, she'll, you're, there's, they'll, don't, couldn't, shouldn't, wouldn't, we've, can't, you've

Sentence: I'm sure we'll go to the party; aren't you?

Vocabulary: secretly, scent, freedom, journey, hounds

Words for May 18: change y to  i and add -es: baby, babies, butterfly, butterflies, pony, ponies, berry, berries, bunny, bunnies, cherry, cherries, fly, flies, puppy, puppies

Sentence: the baby bunnies watched the butterflies.

Vocabulary: sipped, company, feast, hostess, bouquet, munched

Daily practice of Math fact cards is encouraged. 
Also read and fill in reading log every day.  Try to read fluently and with
 expression.

In Science we are studying about forces and matter--including magnets, 
liquids, solids, and gases.  We will have a test     at the end of March.
We will be talking about animals and their habitats in April and May. 

In math we are still practicing telling time and counting coins.  We are also
 doing 2-digit addition and subtraction and measurements.  
Please help your child LEARN his math facts (without counting on!!!!)

Spelling Test--on Friday or last day of the week.  Students are now   
graded on  16 words for an A.
